“We are not a drop in the ocean; we are an ocean in a drop”

Halibas aims to facilitate “Art to meet Art’’ across all cultural divides for the enrichment of all. We want to bring together art and artists from different cultures around the world.

From 27 April – 1 May 2015 Halibas is holding an exciting cultural fusion event in Cappadocia, the home of Halibas founder Serkan Halilogullari.

“I began Halibas in memory of my mother, who loved art and culture. She taught me that sharing culture can increase understanding and bring respect and peace,” Serkan says.

“My goal is to bring together various art forms around the world and create a centre for cross-cultural fusion. I believe that art tears down barriers and brings people together.

“Where better to hold such an event than in Turkey, the meeting place between East and West, where cultures have mixed and fused for thousands of years? And of course Cappadocia makes an incredible setting, with its amazing landscapes of natural rock towers, rich history and warm hospitality.”

The Halibas festival is being held in Nevsehir, a World Heritage Site famous for its rock churches adorned with Byzantine frescoes and for the wealth of Turkish Islamic art displayed in the city museum. The programme includes live performances, exhibitions, talks and workshops showcasing a huge variety of local artists, painters, photographers, ceramicists, craftspeople, musicians, poets, sculptors, textile and furniture makers and actors.
